About the Collection

Natural Systems brings together six films by the artist, Anthony Ellis, created at irregular intervals over a five-year period, alongside Anthony’s correspondent practices in photography, painting and writing. The films were photographed and produced independently but, as with so many projects that are realised across prolonged silences, the conjoint meanings of the works have become apparent with increasing distance.

About the Artist

Anthony Ellis is a UK-based artist, writer and filmmaker. He studied at Manchester School of Art and the Royal College of Art, London. His work encompasses several activities including photography, painting, filmmaking and writing, often focussing on correlative and reciprocal trajectories across urban and rural environments. He has exhibited, presented and screened work at various galleries and museums including Tate galleries, Castlefield Gallery, Exhibition Research Lab (LJMU) and Holden Gallery (MMU), and has written for Corridor 8 and Screenworks.
